A petition on change.org to encourage Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam to support a truth in sentencing act, posted by a Bean Station resident, needed only 671 more supporters to reach its 2,500 signature goal as of Tuesday evening. The petition was posted by Sally Sommerville, whose father was killed during the May 2013 armed robbery of the Down Home Pharmacy in Bean Station.
