A plea hearing has been set in federal court for James Brantley, the owner of Southeastern Provision LLC, a meatpacking plant located in the Bean Station area of Grainger County that was raided by federal and state law enforcement officials in April, resulting in the detention of 97 immigrant workers. A 26-page affidavit in support of search warrant filed by Special Agent Nicholas R. Worsham, Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigations Division , states Southeastern Provision came under investigation by IRS-CID, Homeland Security Investigations and the Tennessee Highway Patrol after authorities became aware of suspicious financial transactions being conducted by representatives of the company at Citizens Bank in Morristown.
